Theodore definitely had mixed feelings about the journals that were linked up to everyone. They had their uses, but he also had moments when he seriously wondered about why he actually had one. It wasn't like he couldn't Floo-call if he really needed to talk to someone, it was just handier to be able to do it through writing. Maybe if he didn't have the journal, he'd be better at the sort of networking his father was encouraging him to do, simply because he had no other choice.
But, on the other hand, when he opened it to find a note written to him accompanied by a spatter of blood, he was really glad he had the journal. It was definitely a good thing to have in an emergency - perhaps he should even consider setting an alarm of some sort for emergency messages, because if he hadn't happened to open his journal not long after the entry had been written, that would have been terrible.
It was still pretty bad that he didn't know where Blaise was: all he knew was that Blaise was bleeding. He stared at it for a second before trying something he'd never done before, only read about in theory: a spell, using the blood Blaise had spilled on the journal, to find out where he was. If it didn't work, he'd just have to head over to Blaise's place and - oh, but thank Merlin, it seemed to work. And Blaise was at home, so even if it hadn't, he'd have still found him.
He Flooed to the place this time, bypassing any wards against Apparation, and cast another spell to locate all people in the vicinity. Then he headed for the bedroom at a run, stopping only when he knelt beside Blaise, one hand moving to put pressure on the bleeding wound while the other held his wand, starting to murmur the spell to stop the flow of blood completely under his breath.
