Theodore watched Tracey as she spoke, nodding. She was better with emotional things than him; for all that Theodore took after his mother in some ways, he did not have the strong emotional side that had presumably come from her side of the family. He had his father's emotional range and resilience, and his experience as a healer to guide him in situations like this; he didn't know what would best help someone else get through an emotionally painful situation.
"I agree. I'm sorry that you have to deal with this as well as your grief for Cedric, Zach, but I don't think you can really compare any one experience with emotional pain to another," he said. "But scar tissue is your body's way of healing a wound, even if it never completely goes away." He paused. "Time can heal all wounds - I truly believe that. And it will heal them whether you believe it or not. I'm not saying that it will be better tomorrow, or in a month - but you shouldn't resign yourself to hurting like this for the rest of your life, Zach. It will get better, whether you will it or no, but believing that it will can actually make it easier to bear."
