Devlin stood as soon as she finished her question. With the way she was acting, he didn't know whether to believe her or not. He knew it was his duty to report anything that may endanger the Minister, but he was reluctant to immediately turn in anyone who had immediate connections to himself. If it turned out that Demelza was really in correspondence with outlaws, then his future was in jeopardy by association. It would be easier on him if he were the one to turn her in, though; he would say that he reported it as soon as he had warning. If anyone suspected anything he could simply allow Veritaserum to be used on him, and he'd be free.
