"Er," Demelza blinked, surprised by his reaction even though she should have expected it. "She was alone, but I shouldn't tell you more than that."
She sighed again, finally leaning back into the couch. Of course he'd think that. Demelza was so skeptical of the whole thing at first but the more time that passed, the more she considered it and the more plausible it seemed. "I know, but...I am. I was. How can everyone agree with the government? That's just too good to be true, isn't it?"
