Zach wasn't even sure if his father trusted him or his mother. Zacharias didn't know the most about his parents' relationship to be honest. But Zach had told his father he loved Colin, and if his father had cared to ask, Zach would have told him Colin loved him to. But instead, his father had decided to test it, to see it. And well, his father had never worried about any girls he was supposedly getting involved with, and Zach hadn't disillusioned his father the few times it had seemed like he was dating one of his female friends. But how he was with Colin? It didn't really make sense.
But it still remained: Sebastian Smith didn't trust anyone.
"I don't think that's specific to you," Zach replied. To his surprise the spider crawled off of him and toward the door. The door closed even more firmly than before. Zach didn't know if his father had looked in, but yes, Colin was in his lap, and Zach didn't want to let go anytime soon at all. "I know," Zach replied quietly, "I love you too."
His second arm wrapped around Colin, smiling again. Bloody hell it was so easy to smile. "Upset?" Zach repeated in surprise, looking down at Colin. Then Colin said more, and Zach almost wanted to swear at his father. It wasn't fair that his father saw so much and well...that when he did, he made comments about it to Colin. Zach had wanted Colin to be free to choose however...however he wanted.
"It's...I know you didn't mean to," Zach couldn't lie now that Colin had asked, "I just, it feels, it doesn't feel fair that while you're...not choosing, Justin gets to see you, spend time with you, all the time. It...I mean it makes sense since you live together. But it, I have to ask to see you, to ask if I can come to your home, and I don't get to see you as much. It...you don't- I mean I'm not- you're always free to do whatever you want. You don't...have to do something you don't want to." He looked down, nervous. Theo or Ven or someone had suggested Zach tell Colin how he felt about that, but Zach hadn't. Until his father made him.
