"I hope not." That was true, although it was mostly selfish - they really couldn't afford to see their ranks shrink any more, and he'd grown tired of worrying about retribution from his own allies. "But we all share a goal. We've all made sacrifices, and are prepared - I hope - to make them again." He'd meant to stay as phlegmatic as possible, but he'd never dealt particularly well with taking blame, and the defensiveness was seeping in. "If it means bringing an end to the Dark Lord, I can't think of much I wouldn't sacrifice. I admit I've been expecting the same from my comrades. But I've never done so cavalierly." Not recently, anyway. He slouched a bit and glared for a moment into one of the darkened library windows before the momentary tension passed and he squared his shoulders again. "Had I realized it would take you out of commission for years, obviously I would have chosen a different course."
