Who: Severus Snape & Emmeline Vance What: Making excuses explanations When: Tonight at eleven o'clock Where: Outside Finsbury Library, London Warnings: None Status: Complete
Severus felt uncomfortably conspicuous in the beat-up Muggle get-up he'd dragged into service for the occasion - probably more conspicuous than he should have, considering the beat-up looking Muggles hanging about in front of the off-license across the street. Even if he hadn't been working to blend in with the shadows of the concrete walls of the closed, darkened library, leaning against the railing and watching (wand at the ready under his jacket, naturally), he'd probably have fit in pretty well with the local scenery. Which wasn't saying much for him, but at least it was practical.
And worrying about being seen was preferable to trying to sort out exactly what he was going to say. Convincing apologies had never been his strong suit. The real explanation - that he hadn't particularly meant to put her in harm's way, but the risk was all in a day's work, and not to be shied away from - seemed unlikely to satisfy. But for now he focused his attention on watching out and trying to make sure he wasn't about to be faced with anyone more than Vance, because it wouldn't much matter what he had to say if he should run into any surprises.
