Patience composed herself, and squeezed Chastity’s hands gently before letting them go. “I’m fine,” she said, which was true enough. Sad, worried, and frightened, yes, but she could deal with that. As she’d said earlier, she felt much better now that she had talked to her sister about the worst case scenario. “I’ll worry less now that we’ve discussed it.”
In truth, if Barty Crouch wanted to go down fighting, and if Chastity wanted to be there at his side, Patience would forgive her sister for that. She could probably forgive her sister for hurting other people that she loved, too, although that would be more difficult. Regardless of whether she could forgive her twin, though, she really didn’t want it to come to that.
“I should probably make sure the kittens haven’t gotten into trouble,” she said, when she noticed that they’d left the room. She moved to pick up her cup of tea, which was cold now. “Do you want to stay for tea? I’m going to heat mine up.”
