The hug was meant to comfort her, a brief moment of compassion and comfort between two friends. He hadn't though it would bridge into anything else when he started it, hadn't thought it would spark any reaction. His arms wrapped around her tighter, his hands resting against her shoulders, and when she pulled back, he stared back into her eyes.
He hadn't expected the kiss. Mostly because she was Katie Bell. His friend Katie Bell. It had been ages since he pursued any woman and even longer since it had been more then a quick approach in a bar. He couldn't remember the last time he had snogged someone he considered a friend or even thought about bridging the gap from friends to something else. It caught him off guard and when she pulled back, he didn't quite register what she was saying, as his mind was still cycling over and over what had just happened moments ago. Though brief, the kiss had felt wonderful and a pleasant surprise.
He brought his eyebrows together once he realized she was apologizing. Right. That wasn't good.
His hand reached out, pressing his finger tip to her lip, as he gave her his first genuine smile of the night. "Why are you apologizing?" He asked, letting his hand drop from her lips and brush down from her skin to her shoulder, till it went back to resting against her knee cap.
