This was not a happy visit, as much as Fred wanted every visit with Patience to be a happy one. He was leaving that night, though, and he had no idea what what would mean for the two of them. He knew he had to see her before he left, though, had to explain why he was leaving and tell her goodbye for now himself. An Owl or a note on a journal wouldn't suffice, not at all.
And so he had taken her up on her offer to Apparate in to Patience's house, looking every bit as exhausted and frustrated and worried as he felt. Spotting her by the window, Fred immediately went to her and cupped her face in his hands and kissed her without any further greeting. He couldn't say he wasn't afraid that this might be the last time he'd be able to kiss her for a while...a long while.
He hated that thought and he frowned as he pulled back and rested his forehead against hers, respecting her too much to not tell her exactly what was going on without trying to pussyfoot around it. "I'm leaving tonight, Monty, with Mum, Dad, and the rest of us. They caught Ron and he escaped and I can't risk anyone else in my family being hurt because of it, so George, Charlie, Bill and I are taking everyone away to a place that's safe, tonight." He kissed her softly again and then looked back at her, sadly, still holding her face in his hands. "I can't tell you where, but I had to tell you I was going."
