Colin looked up at him quietly, trying to read something, but all he saw was pain. He didn't know how to fix it, but he knew he wanted to. He fidgeted with Hector's strap, gaze dropping for a moment. The fact that Zach was hurting so much made him sad, but somehow he felt like he shouldn't stay too close for too long. It was like Zach's eyes kept saying 'stay away' but he couldn't figure out the why. It didn't make sense. He didn't want to stay away, but he would if he had to.
He nodded at Zach's words, quietly deciding it might be a good idea to make something for him to eat just in case he got hungry later. "I think so. I have pictures of Dennis and I to send her, and there's a lot I could tell her. She would like to hear about you. I know she would." He tried to keep his lower lip from quivering as he looked up at Zach again.
After a moment, Colin grabbed his hand and lead him toward the couch, gently pushing him down and setting the chocolate on the table. "You can have some if you like, I'm going to go make you some...whatever you have that I can make. Just in case. You might get hungry later. Then you don't have to make it yourself, and you can just eat it, okay?" He leaned over to kiss his cheek, pausing for a moment.
"I guess you don't have to actually stay here if you don't want. I mean..if you want to come into the kitchen while I make things, then...you could do that. It won't take very long." He slipped Hector's strap over his head, gently setting it down before moving to go into the kitchen. He was determined.
