"I won't blame you if you have to rescind on this particular job," Hannah replied, genuinely, "if that is what you feel would be best for all involved." She really wanted this to work out for selfish reasons, but she could tell he was in a difficult position and she could not fault him for that. She just needed to figure out where that left her and her father. "However," she continued, still trying to tread carefully, though guided by intuition, "I think I could handle the risk." More than you know. She kept that thought to herself, though it lingered on the tip of her tongue, not wanting to say too much, still. Especially now she had to be careful to keep herself alive, if only because she wasn't the only one depending on that now. She had this unexpected baby to think about, too.
"Theodore," she started, trying to grasp at straws to make heads or tails of the situation, "is this--" She stopped herself, glancing down at her hands. How was she supposed to ask if he was in the same position as she was without letting slip that she was in this position prematurely? She was piecing bits of information together, his father had been a Death Eater and he had left treasonous information in his will behind for Theodore. Which meant said information was against the government. What kept her from prying, though, was that she couldn't figure out if Theodore thought he would be a danger because her knew the information or because he agreed with it. The subtle difference between the two made the two ways this conversation could go vastly different.
She pressed her lips together and then said, "I can't pretend to understand what you must be going through, so what the next step should be I will leave up to you. Just know that whatever risk that may be involved should you choose to stick with us can be accommodated." She looked at him with certainty, hoping that she had conveyed at least a little bit that, should the situation be that he was of an opinion against the government, that would not be a problem.
