Hannah listened carefully, face falling visibly as Theodore spoke. Oh no. She'd thought things were turning around, despite the unexpected realization that she was pregnant. Why was it that the universe was determined not to let anything go right? But that wasn't really fair at the moment. Theodore had just lost his father and whatever was going on had to be important enough for him to feel it to be dangerous to be in contact with her. He didn't strike her at all the type to shirk responsibilities simply because he felt like it.
"How so?" she asked carefully, wondering if he had to be vague on purpose or if the information was simply private. She didn't need him to giver her details so long as she could find out exactly how her father would be affected and what actions she needed to take. In certain scenarios, if he was in danger without whatever protection his father had offered, she had ways of offering protection, too. That was in a worst case scenario, though, because she couldn't risk compromising the safety of their tenants. If he was in trouble, though, she was the kind of person who would want to offer him any kind of help she could.
