Alright, well, so much for that argument. Marek hadn't really expected to win this one, but at least his concerns weren't being dismissed as silly and stupid. That would have pissed him off.
"It's a problem because I think you deserve better," he said, because that was really what it came down to for him. "Because I'm not comfortable with the idea of you -- just using someone, long term. I've done that, but I want more than that. For you, too."
That was the main thing that bothered him, but it wasn't all of it. "I also don't -- I guess I don't think that it really is that simple. You're close friends and it's apparently been happening for a long time. It seems like - either you really haven't met a single person who wouldn't be better for you, or you aren't looking. And that's not 'just using' someone, Melinda. I don't know what it is, but I don't think it can be written off so easily."
