The two subjects went hand in hand, truly, when it came to magical theory. And if the two were worried about a legilimens attempting to enter their mind, the Imperius Curse was a viable contender for how they were to get attacked. Honestly, neither seemed like weapons of choice for Higgs, based purely off his wand. It wasn't about control. However, Felixa did not know Svetkova.
But it was good that they had experience and knowledge. The theory itself was quite helpful. "Good," the witch replied, taking it in to adjust how to explain occlumency, "It has common magical theory with occlumency. You again are pushing someone out, closing yourself off. However, the focus of where and how can be different." It depended on the person truly, but as long as they knew themselves if it were going to be different, Felixa was not pushing them for information. She did not expect Melinda, particularly, to be forthcoming at all, and in general, they were trying to stay on topic.
"Simply resisting is similar to resisting the Imperius. However, unless one is a master at occlumency, that may not be possible against the most powerful legilimens," Felixa explained, "But occlumency is about more than simply resisting a mind getting in. The first level of mastery is to master clearing your mind of all thoughts and emotion. Thus, while you cannot hide what memories they see, they will get no more than that." It was a decent amount of explaining, but Felixa did not know how much they had read. If it contradicted any ideas they held about the subject, they were quite welcome to ask about it.
She paused, to give them a chance to digest. The theory was all she could help them with. They needed a legilimens they trusted enough to help them master it to truly get much better...at least in a preferred sense. Felixa did not wish either of them to have their minds invaded against their will.
