"They might like you," he said, glancing around, "but I've been after them with a broom all morning." He pointed out the mess of cages on the floor, some of them filled with puffs and locked, others with one or two crawling around and the doors open. "They keep finding their way back to the cages, but if they are locked they just disappear."
He sighed. "Maybe I should just let them colonize the store, but I don't want them breeding and taking over." He looked at her seriously. "They seem dumb, but given the chance they will attempt a coup d'état."
