It makes you complacent. For a moment, Tracey just stood there, her hands clasped in Theo's as she listened to him explain and his words echoed through her mind. It makes you comply with, and believe, that everything the Ministry or the Death Eaters say is reasonable and justified.
But Tracey didn't have much interaction with the Ministry, did she? And no Death Eaters, except- no. No, that couldn't be true because then... Because Blaine. A faint whimper escaped her lips, a sound she wasn't even aware she was making. She did however eventually realize that she was murmuring over and over again, "No. No, no, no..." As she regained some of her focus, Tracey began shaking her head almost desperately as she said, "No, Theo, that can't be true, because- because I- I was with- And he- And I-" She swallowed hard and then managed to get out one more strangled word, "Blaine?"
It couldn't be, it couldn't be... because all the time she'd been with him she'd let him do the things he'd done because she was scared but also because she thought it was his right, because he told her she had to, that it was his duty to punish her and hers to submit and- and- Her stomach tensed and she moaned slightly with pain as her eyes locked pleadingly on Theodore's.
