"I don't know," Theodore said honestly. "I have no idea what prompted... any of this." He had some pieces to the puzzle, but the entire image wasn't clear to him yet, at all. It was on his list to research horcruxes, though he suspected that if they were important - and if there was a good reason his father had been questioned about them, perhaps killed because of them - there might be something about it in his father's will, or in his study. That was another thing he planned to look for today.
Places that he might think of that others wouldn't. Well, that was difficult, considering he'd only visited for dinners recently. Dinners which had not involved any particularly memorable or suspicious conversation, though they were still probably more involved than most of his father's conversations with anyone else in the last year or so before his death. He'd have to think about that more.
He made the decision to try the bedroom first, even though that was where many people kept their belongings - under mattresses, behind the headboards, behind paintings. Behind paintings! "We should check behind portraits," he said, stopping in his tracks as something occurred to him. "His portrait. I should talk to his portrait."
