"Well, if just anyone could make a wand, everyone would just make their own," Marek said with a grin. "Then you'd be out of a job."
He wanted his drink to come before he toasted to anything, because toasting with an empty glass seemed a bit like spitting in his palm before a handshake. But that wasn't how it was intended, so he'd just deal. He clinked his glass against hers, and set it down again.
Of course, right as he was about to ask his question, his refill was delivered, and he shut his mouth again. After a moment, he cast a strong muffling spell around their booth, since he was about to ask her a question that she likely wouldn't want others to know the answer to. And after he asked it, if the true answer was what he suspected, he was likely to get a doozy of a question in return.
"What do you want that potion for?" he asked. "I know you'd like it to be versatile, but really. Working on it has resulted in the death of my quill as well as quite a number of kittens, incidentally."
