Chastity shook her head. "It should never have happened in the first place!" The words weren't shouted, but her voice was raised and there was a sharp edge to her tone. "Damn it!" She added, one fist coming free to bang back into the wall. "I should have been there to stop it, to- to protect you, Patience. If I'd been there, this never would have happened." She turned her head to the side, unable to look at her sister due to the sick guilt that was churning in her stomach. The show of emotion certainly wasn't helping, either; she hated feeling so exposed.
