"If it doesn't work, I'm more then willing to stand guard and come to your side should nightmares come forth," he admitted and for a brief moment, felt his cheeks blush a color that mirrored his hair color. "I don't often mention it," he said with a hint of amusement before he nodded his head. "I am pretty decent at putting my mind to things if I try hard enough. Potions is simply following directions, same principle as cooking, though I'd say I am a much better cook," he rambled, because he had been so worried these past few days that all he felt was relief in this moment and it was making him have a difficult time preventing the ramble.
He bowed his head for a brief moment in response to her question, as he didn't want to admit that the idea had occurred to him in the wake of her absence. He had quickly convinced himself that he had to be wrong, of course, and that she must of had some emergency. Anything really to explain her not contacting him. As time passed with no word, he realized perhaps something had happened to her, and that lead him to speak with Tonks. He cleared his throat. "I thought a lot of things," was all he decided to say on the matter, but he hoped she wouldn't think he rushed into that conclusion. He had been so confused when she did not arrive because he thought she enjoyed his company as he enjoyed hers. Her standing him up made no sense, even in those immediate moments and thoughts.
"Aye, that is all that matters," he agreed before bursting into a smile, nodding his head. "Good. I couldn't imagine not having you fighting on our side when the time comes for it," he said. He didn't wish for fighting, but it was inevitable, and it was foolish to think otherwise.
