Gilbert would hardly have held it against her if she needed to cry. He had not cried in such a long time, but that was hardly the issue at present. He offered her a reassuring smile. She could perhaps use those. He was not entirely certain.
"Wonderful." He nodded at Hestia's words. They could keep each other safe. It was all they could do now. He laughed softly, reaching over to brush another strand of hair from her face. "Sometimes we all need hugs whether we believe them to be in our best interest or not. I do not believe it would truly cause you harm. I will just have to bring the hug to you," he said quietly, moving to toe off his shoes before stretching out next to her and wrapping an arm around her. "See? Hardly an issue."
