Gilbert chuckled a little, doing his best to ignore the slight flush working across his cheeks. "No. Of course not. It would hardly be helpful." He lightly patted her hand, doing his best not to do so too hard. He did not wish to bring her more harm than had already come to her. "I did not suppose you did."
His gaze came to rest on her face and he offered her a small smile. "You need not feel so. Though, I know I cannot make you stop feeling that way." He tensed slightly as she went on. He almost expected her to tell him to stay away. He almost thought he may agree, but not for the reason she would offer. "If they discover what happened at all, I am in danger whether you are with me or not. As I said, these houses are set up as safe houses. I could certainly add a few more wards if it were found necessary, if you were to prefer to stay here. I will be as careful as I can be." He moved to sit on the bed, smiling a little. "You do not need to explain. I am fine to stay close."
