Being seated so quickly was definitely a perk of her pregnancy. No one seemed to want to make a pregnant woman stand too long; which, with the way her feet had started hurting sometimes, was certainly a good thing. When Zach responded with such enthusiasm, Lavender smiled, resting her hand on top of his where it pressed on her belly. For once, the baby was being relatively quiet, so Lavender sat still, breathing slowly and deeply. Usually when she was quiet the baby kicked more, and sure enough it only took a moment before the little one kicked out, almost right under Zach’s hand. “Feel that?” She shifted his hand just slightly to left and the baby kicked again, this time right beneath his hand, hard enough to push out at it. Laughing, Lavender said, “It’s crazy, right? But so amazing.”
