Really, it was amazing how much food he could put away. Then again, Patience imagined that Fred used quite a bit more energy in the day than she did; he was such an exuberant person. Patience herself was more calm, steady. She would have said like water flowing over rocks, except there was nothing calm about the way the water in front of them was roaring downwards.
"That's alright," she said, grinning up at him. She felt like she was slowing down in her consumption, though certainly not stopping. Reaching over, she grabbed a large cluster of grapes and took a break from her sandwich to eat a few of them. She laughed. "If you're not done when I'm ready, I'll just go in without you and let the food entertain you for a while."
