Wands were more like people - and spouses - than most witches and wizards realized. They channeled magic, yes, but they were far more than a focusing point. Some wands were better at different magics and some required certain attitudes from their owner. And, it was difficult to explain, potentially, how it was known to be the wands and not simply a disagreement between people. But people were petty. "Any sort of magic needed for a place, such as wards, turns against each other," Felixa explained, as she leaned forward a little, "One person sets a ward to protect the couple from intruders, but instead it also acts against the other person of the household. It's more painful than simply being unable to come home because the magic contorts...sort of like a child disapproving of a parent's new spouse, except with the anger of a previous spouse."
That wasn't quite right, and her face showed a little frustration at not being able to communicate it. "Thankfully for us, the incidents are rare," she added - wondering how many relationships that could sour quickly if not true.
