Marek immediately felt slightly guilty for wondering if she was holding out on him for some reason, after she explained. More than likely, it was just the gravity of this particular story, of the things he kept asking her about tonight, that was making her more reticent than him. After all, he was talking about random Floo rides. She was talking about getting lost in the forest without her wand.
"That must have been terrifying," he said. "And sad, losing your wand," he added. It made perfect sense to him that she was particularly sad about that, considering she was a wandmaker. Though he had no personal experience with losing his own wand to compare it to, so he couldn't say whether she was particularly touched by it. He didn't really remember her announcing the ceremony, or what he had been involved in at the time, but he said the polite thing anyway. "I'm sorry I didn't come to the ceremony."
