As they sat there, Felixa felt exhausted - emotionally. Physically, she was alert and awake, aware of her surroundings. But it had been hard to talk, and while the act of telling someone had let some of the pain out, instead of holding it in, Felixa felt like she was at the end - or a lull more likely with everything coming - of an emotional roller coaster. Her emotions wobbled all over the place, like they were trying to get their legs back. But she just didn't have it in her to deal with that yet. Holding everything in check made her look calm and okay and all that, but it was difficult. And she had support - didn't need to do it entirely alone.
"You're my best friend, Patience," Felixa spoke without really thinking, though she meant it whole-heartedly, "I love you."
