Who: Elladan and Wulfred, with Arwen and Eldarion What: Restlessness, presents, and babies, oh my! When: Before Celeborn got back. I don't remember when we started it XD Where: Citadel, Minas Tirith.
Elladan: *really is roaming around the city at the moment* *is looking for something to cheer brother up*
Wulfred: ::has been restless lately, moreso than she thinks is probably normal for beeing in the city and far from home. out walking::
Elladan: *stops at one of the shops* Telpy bear? ... he'd kill me.
Wulf: ::wanders by just in time to see Elladan looking at the telpy bears. staaares at the bears::
Elladan: *looks up, notices her, then points at one of the ones dressed like a Rider* Keepsake for the trip?
Wulf: ::smiles slowly and slightly shyly:: What are they, exactly?
Elladan: *scratches at the side of his face a moment* You know, I do not quite know myself. Some sort of cuddly object. I think they used to be popular down here, a while back, too.
Elladan: *looks this way, and that, and then twinkles his eyes* My sister, Arwen, has one that she cuddles with.
Wulf: ::chuckles:: Like a doll, but...bear shaped.
Elladan: And very soft. Here. *picks one up, and hands it to her*
Elladan: You are far from home, in strange lands. Perhaps you could use something to comfort you.
Wulf: ::flushes slightly and hugs the teply bear to her:: It is nice, yes.
Elladan: *watches her for a moment, then smiles and turns back to the table* Now you must help me pick one out for my brother. If he does not stop moping soon I may disown him.
Wulf: ::chuckles and looks at the bears. spots one in what she gues is Ranger garb and taps it:: This one?
Elladan: *tilts his head* ... That may make him mope more, I think.
Elladan: You would think having a nephew would make him cheer up.
Wulf: Ah...::sighs:: I am sorry I am not more helpful.
Elladan: You do not need to be more helpful, Lady. He is not, after all, YOUR twin brother. *winks at her*
Wulf: ::flushes. still not used to him calling her 'lady':: This is true, yes.
Elladan: *gazes over the Telpies, trying to find a comforting one that won't also be painful to look at* You see, the ring you found.. he had given it, to someone.
Wulf: ::brows furrow:: Oh. I am...sorry for his loss...
Elladan: He will get over it... eventually .... *runs a hand through his hair* I hope.
Wulf: I hope that he does. ::rests a hand on his arm::
Elladan: *smiles at her, a bit softly, and picks up a Telpy made to look like Queen Arwen* He married her, and... and he never told me. I shall have to get him back for that somehow. I am thinking of painting his face while he sleeps.
Wulf: ::blinks. that was a big thing, getting married without telling one's family. especially one's twin. she chuckled softly:: It might at least get his mind off of his pain, if only for a moment...
Elladan: I admit I am a bit at a loss as to what else to do. Mother left, but we handled that together, Arwen left, but we handled that together...
Elladan: *shrugs, smiles, and pays the nearby attendant for both bears* Ah well. I suppose we had to grow apart at some point, after all these years.
Wulf: ::nods:: You are both grown men. It is...to be expected that some differences would come.
Elladan: *chuckles* You would think so, though I believe we never saw it that way. ... I never did, at any rate. I always thought we would just be halves of one thing until we both decided it was time to go.
Elladan: But nevermind all this, for I am an Uncle! *grins* And I must find a present for my nephew. He, sadly, already has many telpies. Do you have a suggestion?
Wulf: ::smiles and thinks for a moment:: A wooden horse? It would be something for him to grow into playing with, but it would be one he could play with for years.
Elladan: *ponders this, with an evil little smirk, and his eyes light up* Yes! This is the perfect gift, and I demand that you allow me to put your name upon it as well. *nods his head* In fact, you should help me pick one out. I have never had to pick out a wooden horse before, and you are bound to be the expert.
Wulf: ::flushes, but grins:: I would be honored to have the prince's gift be from me as well. And I will be glad to help you pick one out.
Elladan: *takes her hand, and squeezes it* Thank you. Now. *looks around* If I were a shop that sold wooden horses, where would I hide?
Elladan: *looks around at the nearby shops, a bit lost in the big city, though he's been there a few times* *the shop attendant eventually points them in the right direction* Ah. This way! *leads her off?*
Wulf: ::smiles and squeezes his hand in return, laughing happily as they head off to find the toy horse shop:: This nice. I was...restless, and this is good to relieve that feeling.
Elladan: I know... I am sorry, that I abandoned you when we got here. Things ended up blindsiding the both of us, and it was hard to get out, but for those few times. *one of which he was so very not mentioning. Again. Ever*
Wulf: ::yeah. she's so not ever mentioning seeing his dangley bits. and yes, she had stared a little bit.:: Your brother needed you...there is no reason to apologize.
Elladan: I feel bad about it, regardless. This land is not easy for one so free-spirited to enjoy. I should have made time for you, to help you get used to the city, show you where to go to feel more at home. *frowns a bit, turning towards the shop* I still intend to introduce you to Arwen, though! She may even let you hold her son.
Wulf: ::practically beams:: I would like very much to meet her. Eomer King lent Hasufel to King Ellesar for a time, you know. This honor, meeting the queen and the little prince, would be less bitter sweet.
Elladan: *beams himself, at how happy she looks!* It shall be done! Even if I have to twist her arm a bit and pull big brother rank with her. *winks, and opens the shop door* Here, we can meet her when we present them with our wooden horse. *gestures around the shop, filled to the brim with wooden trinkets* If we can find one in this mess.
Wulf: I am sure we can. ::looks around the shop, eyes widening. it's got a LOT of stuff made from wood, that's for sure. wanders around, still holding his hand:: Hmm.... ::spots some; points:: There they are!
Elladan: *somewhat forgot to let go of her hand, and isn't going to unless she does it herself, maybe* *walks over to the wooden horses, looking them over. There are plenty, of various sizes and decoration* I suppose we need one that is rather sturdy...
Wulf: ::nods. also totally not letting go of his hand just yet:: Yes... ::bites her lip thoughfully and narrows her eyes in concentration. eyes the horses. gaze lands on a medium sized, sturdy/stocky looking gray one. smiles softly and picks it up, making it clip-clop against the shelf once or twice. nods:: This one.
Elladan: *reaches out for it, running his hands over it and also making a clip-clop with it a few times, then nods his head* Agreed.
Wulf: ::grins and swings their joined hands a little::
Elladan: *beams a smile at her and tucks the Telpy under his arm so that he can better carry the horse* We shall purchase this and then find a nice bit of ribbon to tie around its neck. Then perhaps I will sneak up to the Citadel with you and see if we can present the horse to my sister. *twinkles his eyes*
Wulf: Really? That would be...I would like that. ::flushing slightly. another squeeze for his hand::
Elladan: Really. *nods his head, leads her over to the attendant so that he can pay for the horse without letting go of her hand, and heads out, in search of a shop that sells ribbons and things* I think she would enjoy some company that is ... not going to complement her endlessly and fawn over her. *chuckles* Someone who will tell her she looks tired, because she does.
Wulf: She will look very tired. I can...sort of remember when my mother had my brother. She was very tired, and he was a pretty big baby. ::nods:: But I would not be like the...ladies of the court; compliments are one thing, flattery is another.
Elladan: Honestly, I think she much prefers ladies that are not like ladies of the court. *nods his head* At least, that is what she has mentioned, in her letters to us, and in my few visits with her since I arrived. Though there are a few she enjoys. I think I saw a tailor over this way who likely has ribbons..
Wulf: ::smiles:: I think I would like her, then. For that, besides the fact that she is your sister. ::though part where one couldn't visually tell that the twins were older than the queen would still be a little odd to get her head around:: Ah, the tailor might, yes.
Elladan: I think it is hard to DISlike her, but I am, of course, biased in my opinions. *twinkles his eyes, and leads her over* Perhaps we can pick up some ribbons for your hair, as well. Some nice green ones to catchin the wind while you ride.
Wulf: ::blushes:: You don't have to...but...if you wish to, you may. ::is totally not used to this sort of attention. at all.::
Elladan: You deserve to wear something pretty, once in a while, and as I fear we may never get you into a dress...
Elladan: *grins* It would be nice, but not practical for the sort of work you do. Ribbons, though, can be worn even with trousers.
Wulfred: ::chuckles softly:: I wear dresses, but they are simple ones. Practical, not...showy.
Elladan: I would expect nothing less. *nods his head* You are a very practical woman. And that is not a complaint. I, for instance, am not practical at all. It used to drive Ada crazy. Elrohir is more practical, and I never know how he manages it.
Wulf: You are practical enough. ::smiles at him:: And you are dedicated to the things that matter. That is important.
Elladan: Oh nay, can you honestly say that setting a wraith on fire with a firework is all that practical an idea? *smirks* My brother certainly would have to disagree.
Wulf: Is it practical for a woman to set out after one alone, bearing only a hammer from the forge? ::eyes twinkle::
Elladan: *laughs* I suppose not. I had not even thought of that! But at least we were there, to get injured more spectacularly in your place?
Elladan: *squeezes her hand, which he only just remembered was still in his* It would have been horrible, had anything worse befallen you.
Wulf: And it would have been horrible if anything worse had befallen you. The two of you.
Elladan: *gets a sad look on his face momentarily* He nearly died. I was far more lucky. If you had not been there it would have been worse, of course, so I am undyingly grateful to you for that. And to my Daerada, for finding us. *nods his head, and steps into the tailor shop* A nice, bright red ribbon for the horse, and ones of green and white and gold for you. *nods his head, and starts looking around*
Wulf: ::blushes at the talk of ribbons. is not used to feeling this much like...well, like a girl.:: It was the least I could do.
Elladan: I fear I will never quite be able to repair you. *indicates some dark green ribbons embroidered with gold flowers* What do you think of these?
Wulf: You do not need to repay me. ::loks at the ribbons:: They are beautiful...
Elladan: Then you shall have them. *nods his head and picks them up, then adds some white ones embroidered in green* There, and now to find that pesky big red one, for this horse. *looks around the shop, finding every manner of ribbon ever thought of by man or elf*
Wulf: ::blushes. looks for big red ribbon::
Elladan: *walks around the shop, picking up ribbons here and there* I suppose the actual colors of this city are silver and black and white.. perhaps that is why they lack red?
Wulf: ::thinks for a moment:: Perhaps... ::looks around more. sees a splash of red. points:: There!
Elladan: *follows her pointing finger with his eyes, blinks* How did I not see that? *bounds over to it, as it may very well be the last red ribbon in the entirety of Minas Tirith* There is barely any left, we had better snatch it up before some tailor comes after us with a needle threatening to stitch us if we do not hand it over.
Wulf: ::nods, laughing:: We had, yes. We would not want your nephew to miss out on such a bright color for his horse. Even if he won't know it's a horse for a good while.
Elladan: He may be brighter than us, and at least recognize one by age 2. *twinkles his eyes and goes to pay for the ribbon purchases, too* *had the person tie the bow around the horse right then and there* There, a present befitting the heir to the throne, I think.
Wulf: ::smiles and nods:: I think it is, yess, and one that will see him through many stages of play, as well. It is a good gift.
Elladan: *nods, tucks the horse back under his arm, and sees them both out* Now, shall we make way to the Queen and present our gift, or shall we first make a stop at my brother, so as to arrest some of his moping with a cuddly Telpy-Bear, or do you need to check on Feorcwen?
Wulf: ::thinks for a moment:: ...Feorcwen will be all right. ::does feel a little guilty, though:: Perhaps the queen, then your brother? It would make us head back in the directions of our lodgins to visit him second.
Elladan: We moved him to the Citadel, so either course will work, now. But aye, then I can stop carrying around this horse. *nods his head* It is rather unwieldy, even for me. *twinkles his eyes* The Citadel is a ... very large place, filled with guards who are grumpy and stare off into nothing. I am warning you now, so that you do not take with depression when we enter. Though the yule
Wulf: I thank you for the warning, Elladan. It will be nice to see the decorations, though. It is differently done, here, than at home, which makes it interesting. ::takes his hand again:: Lead on?
Elladan: *smiles warmly at her, squeezes her hand, and nods* Though I wonder if your freond will forgive us for doing this without her... *not that he minded having Wulf to himself!*
Wulf: ...I will make it up to her. ::smiles softly::
Elladan: *nods* Alright. In that case, off we go! *and so he leads Wulfred through the winding streets of Minas Tirith, up to the veeeerry top*
Wulf: ::whee. wow this is freakishly high up. tells self not to look straight down. Out, yeah, but not straight down::
Elladan: *takes a deep breath, lets it out, leads her over to the White Tree* This tree was born of a fruit that grew in Numenor, and that fruit was born of a tree that once grew in the West, the lands of my peoiple, which I will never now see.
Wulf: ::admires tree. ponders the fact that Elladan cannot go to the home of his people now. frowns slightly:: I am sorry for that. ::but not sorry he was there for her to meet::
Elladan: *shrugs his shoulders, lightly* It was a choice he made. And His choices are my choices, for I cannot think of living without him.
Wulf: Ah. ::nods slowly. thinks she can sort of understand that::
Elladan: There are consquences, in either direction. I did not wish to leave my sister here to die alone, in any case. Though we will never see our naneth or ada again, and our daernaneth and daerada will sail at some point, as well.
Elladan: *looks down at the brightly ribboned horse, and smiles* But there are many things yet good about the choice. Like meeting you. Come, let me show you inside.
Wulf: ::smiles:: I am glad to have met you as well.
Elladan: *twinkles his eyes* Even though I have confused you?
Wulf: ::blushes hard:: It is...slightly less confusing when I am alone with either of you, now. But I still would not know what to do with both at once.
Elladan: *blushes a bit* Ah, well. Perhaps the thing is simply not forcing you to choose, at all. Here, let us go in the front way, so that you may see the hall in all it's grandness. Just once. *grins, and leads her through the huuuge doors, nodding at the guards*
Wulf: ::nods slowly:: Perhaps. ::grins and follows. blinks at the gigantic doors. everything in Minas Tirith seems so big. It a bit overwhelming, but she handles it fairly well::
Elladan: *leads her through all the big halls, pointing out the decorations he and Elrohir sent from Rivendell*
Wulf: ::smiles:: They are beautiful...::sort of amazed at getting to see things from elf places::
Elladan: Perhaps someday I can take you to my home, and you can see them in their true place.
Wulf: ::flushes slightly:: Perhaps. ::not going to say yea or nay to that, at this point::
Elladan: Though it is far from your home, and I think you might not enjoy it there for very long. *nods his head, while leading her through the smaller corridors*
Wulf: That is very possible, yes, but it is good to see things from your home, at least. ::smiles softly and glances around as the walk::
Elladan: Just up this stairwell, and around another corridor... She does not know were are coming, so this will be a fun surprise for her. *grins*
Wulf: That will be a nice surprise then. Hopefully she will be awake. ::smiles::
Elladan: *leads her there, knocking on the door to the Royal Quarters lightly* Are you up for visitors, Queen of Gondor?
Wulf: ::grins and bites lip::
Arwen: *a bit muffled, through the door* if the visitors are my annoying elder brothers, who are bent on providing me with my day's fill of chaos, I may have to say no.
Elladan: Nay, only one brother, and ... a friend, and we bring a gift! You cannot turn away a gift, now can you? *twinkles his eyes at Wulfred*
Wulf: ::grins, eyes twinkling back at him::
Arwen: *opens the door herself, with a bit of a laugh* Well if it is only one brother, and a gift, and if that friend is the one I believe it to be... But you must both of you be quiet, for Eldarion is sleeping. *smiles*
Elladan: *grins* You are looking like you may have actually gotten some sleep! *hugs his sister, then gestures to Wulfred* Wulfred, this is Arwen, my sister, who just so happens to also be the Queen of Gondor.
Wulf: ::smiles and curtsies, if awkwardly:: It is an honor to meet you, lady. You have...very interesting and nice brothers. ::who so do not look older than she is::
Arwen: It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Wulfred. *bows slightly, and waves them in* Come in, have some tea, both of you. Interesting is precisely the word I would use for my brothers.. both of them.
Elladan: *is hiding the wooden pony behind his back, gestures for Wulfred to go first!*
Wulf: ::smiles shyly and enters the room. glances around, looks somewhat in awe. Minas Tirith is very interesting. and different from home, but beautiful in it's own way::
Arwen: *pours tea, gestures for Wulfred to take a seat, and glances over at crib from time to time* I trust that my brother has not been making your life absolutely miserable?
Elladan: *shuts the door behind him* Oh Nay, I make her life miserable every day, is that not so, Wulf? *smirks*
Wulf: ::sits:: Oh, it could be worse...I could be dealing with both of them. But they are good men.
Arwen: *laughs, softly, and hands Wulfred a teacup* Aye, they are good men, when they are on their very best behaviour, and not running about my citadel causing all manner of chaos, stealing my husband and getting him drunk. *she smirks at Elladan, and waves him in* This one, I fear, is more trouble than Elrohir.
Elladan: Only because Elrohir is injured. *snorts* When he recovers, he shall be a force to recon with. I might even take a vacation from my own chaos for a bit and let HIM get Estel drunk. *smirks, stepping forward a bit* We have brought a gift for you!
Wulf: ::amused at the thought of Elladan getting the King of Gondor drunk. eyes twinkle when he mentions the present:: Indeed we have, my lady.
Arwen: *smiles* A present? *twinkles her eyes* We have received so many lately, that I fear I shall never catch up with all the wrotes I would write to thank those who sent them. But the ones from family are always the best.
Wulf: ::grins:: It is a present that will see the little one through many years of play.
Elladan: Wulfred helped me select it, otherwise I would have been horribly lost. *smiles, and withdraws the wooden horse from behind his back, bow and all!*
Arwen: *gets up and walks over to the horse, with a beaming smile on her face, then sets it down and clicks it back and forth on the floor, nodding her head* Oh this is a very good gift... and I love the colors you chose.
Wulf: ::beams, delighted that the queen likes the gift:: The gray reminded me of my own horse, Hasufel. He is a good horse, and I am sure that this one will serve the prince well.
Arwen: *nods her head, tipping the horse back and forth some more* You are right, also, in that it will last him through many years, until he is old enough to learn to ride his own. *then she walks over to Elladan and hugs him* Thank you...
Elladan: *hugs Arwen, then grins and pushes her towards Wulfred a bit* Thank her, she is the one who suggested such a gift. I was, as I mentioned, quite lost!
Arwen: *chuckles and heads over to Wulfred, hugging her, as well* You are a good influence on him, I think. And I thank you very much for this gift. It will grace this house for years to come and remind us not only of our brothers but also of their friends, and our allies in Rohan.
Wulf: ::hugs her back, flushing and grinning her head off. the 'good influence on him' part? really made her blush, yep:: I am very pleased that you like it, lady.
Arwen: *takes a step back, and glances over at the crib again* Would you like to see him?
Wulf: ::grins:: I would, yes.
Arwen: *heads over to the crib, and gestures her over* He is starting to wake, and you might hold him before he starts to cry. *smiles in amusement over this, has quite gotten used to the idea that babies cry and scream and are generally needy little things*
Elladan: *just watches the two of them, taking a seat with his tea and blushing a bit as well, over the 'good influence' thing*
Wulf: ::grins:: I have not held an infant since my brother was born...and I was much smaller then...
Arwen: *looks down at Eldarion, adjusting swaddling here and there, with this look of absolute adoration on her face.* It is an amazing thing...
Arwen: *gently picks him up, adjusting him in her arms and then holding him out* Eldarion, this is Wulfred. *she says, to the child*
Wulf: ::grins nervously and smiles at the baby:: Hello, Eldarion. ::holds out her arms, watching how Arwen holds the child::
Elladan: *is really having a hard time not smiling like a lovestricken puppy, watching the two of them* *therefore, very grateful they aren't looking at him!*
Arwen: *places Eldarion gently in Wulfred's arms, adjusting the placement where necessary* This is an honour, that I do not give many. I have found myself... overly protective of him. But I find you deserve it, for having so thoughtfully brought him a gift. *smiles, a bit nervously, and takes a step back* There.
Wulf: ::holds him carefully, getting a bit of an adrenaline rush. he is so tiny, and warm, and did she mention tiny?:: I am...truly honored, lady. Truly honored...he is a handsome wee thing. So small.
Arwen: *beams a smile* Handsome, like his father. He is going to break hearts when he is of age, perhaps even before it. And so very tiny and perfect, that on some days I have a hard time managing the thought that he was born of me, instead of brought here by the Valar themselves. *blushes a bit at her own words* I... am going to become one of those awful mothers who fawns over her child day and night if I keep that up
Wulf: ::just grins:: It is allowable; you are queen, after all, and he is your firstborn. I hear it is a natural thing to happen.
Elladan: Oh nay, he shall not be perfect forever, for he is our blood as well, and male, and as soon as he is old enough to cause trouble you will be cursing him instead of fawning over him. *grins*
Arwen: *runs a hand through her hair* Having twin brothers for Uncles who never grew up will certainly not aid in this. Which is why you both must leave to Imladris and never return until he is crowned. *nods her head emphatically*
Wulf: ::chuckles softly at that:: They would get him into much mischief, yes. But they would mean well, all in all.
Elladan: *glances at Wulfred* I was hoping to move us both down here for a time, actually. Imladris is in good enough hands as it is, and the weather down here will be nice enough when spring falls. It may cheer Elrohir up.
Wulf: It would be good if he could be cheered, yes. ::also, Minas Tirith was closer to Rohan than Imladris was, she was rather sure.::
Arwen: *looks from Wulfred to Elladan and arches a brow* Yes, I had not known he was of such ill humour, but if he is that desperately in need of cheering up, perhaps staying here with us is a better idea. Only you had better not teach my son things he aught not be learning. *narrows her eyes at Elladan, mock-threateningly*
Elladan: *gives her an innocent look. On both counts!*
Arwen: *ponders* I should go and see him, I have just been so busy with Eldarion. Perhaps if I can get Aergannel or Miriel or Daernaneth to watch him for a time... or even Wulfred. *watches Wulfred with her son, and nods her head*
Wulf: I would be honored. Though perhaps someone who knows what to do if he...needs changing would be good to have on hand as well. ::is a little o_o; at the idea of things like that that she doesn't know how to handle happening::
Arwen: *looks amused* Oh it is simple, though I thought at first it would not be. You simply wipe clean, and put new swaddles on him, though I know there are nannies about the Citadel, as well, who would handle such things if I would let them.
Arwen: I have discovered so far that this is not nearly as scary nor mysterious as I thought it would be. Though I know I will be hard pressed to reverse such thinking when he is older.
Wulfred: Mm. I shall endeavour to do it correctly, then. ::blinks a bit and hopes Eldarion doesn't...relieve himself anytime soon.::
Elladan: *perhaps sensing a Wulfred's worries, gets up and walks over* I think I shall have a chance at holding him, as well, if you do not mind... and then, I think, we shall be off to let you get some time with him alone. As I am sure any moment now he is going to start shouting to be fed.
Wulf: ::looks a bit relieved and holds out the baby to transfer him to his uncle. has a soft spot for uncles, as her own had such a big part in her life:: There...he will enjoy playing with you, when he is older.
Elladan: I will enjoy showing him all those things his mother thinks I should not. *twinkles his eyes at Wulfred, and takes Eldarion into his own arms, rocking him a bit* Is that not right? You will learn to pester your mother so that we might feel she is safe enough here without us.
Arwen: *laughs, at that* I doubt highly that one little boy is going to be an adequate replacement for my twin brothers! Though I am sure he will make an effort of it.
Wulf: ::chuckles:: He will have much to explore here, the prince will. Many thing to see and get into. And to learn which is nice to get into and which is not.
Elladan: It is the way we all must learn, even if we are Princes, though some of us learn faster than others. *Eldarion begins to fuss a bit* *decides this is an excellent time to hand the child over to Arwen* Here, I think he is getting hungry.
Arwen: Well you certainly learned when to pass him off quickly enough. *grins at her twin, and takes Eldarion carefully* He most likely does need to be fed, in which case I will bid you both goodbye for the evening. *smiles at them both* As this is not something that newly made friends should be forced to witness.
Wulf: ::chuckles, flushing a little:: We will leave you to it, then. Take care, my lady. And take care, little prince. Do not keep your mother up overmuch at nights.
Elladan: *nods his head* Aye, we will leave you to it. And agreed! Let your mother rest, at least enough so that the bags remove themselves from her eyes. She is starting to look as ugly as a crone. *he winked, to show he was teasing, and stole one last hug before leading Wulfred out*
