The words brought on an actual, visceral reaction, a sensation that was both pleasant and not, panic and relief and then definitely more panic. There was no denying what Sirius said; he had been waiting for him. The words Remus had written to Sirius not long ago returned to him in a flash. I suspect I'll never stop looking for him. Waiting. Oh, Merlin, God, he knew. For a moment, Remus forgot how to breathe, and when he remembered again, he was lightheaded.
Unable to sit still under that gaze, Remus rose and took a few steps away from his friend before turning back to face him. Throwing himself at Sirius would probably be a very bad idea. But he knew. He knew and he was here and he was... well he seemed interested. So clearly, something was off.
"And what... brought you to this realisation?" he asked, his heart still hammering away in his chest.
