Who: Rose and Hugo Where: Hugo's bungalow When: Four minutes after this What: Hugo said he needed her. AKA sibling reconciliation over sad breakups Status: Incomplete
This whole situation with Aunt Ginny and that whole side of the family was incredibly infuriating. Not that Rose was particularly difficult to rile up given who her parents were, but she thought she had every reason to be upset. That Harry would imply that she wasn't a member of the family (cousins were family, dammit), had been greatly insulting but nowhere near, she thought, what Aunt Ginny must be feeling.
The very fact that uncle Harry was apologising on her behalf in public clearly meant that he had no respect for her and that he had no problem whatsoever showing everyone as much. He was telling everyone that he didn't put any stock in what she thought or felt and that neither should they, really. Aunt Ginny was alone in a huge family she didn't know and who kept demanding things from her that she didn't know how to give, that she didn't want to give and no one was here standing up for her. Rose's mum wasn't here. Hermione would've said something long ago, Rose was sure. Her Dad would probably have said something long ago too. Told them to back off of his sister or... something. Rose was ashamed that it had taken her so long to react, but she wasn't going to let her family down now. No matter how much they ganged up on her, disapproved of what she had to say. Someone had to stand up for Aunt Ginny.
And then poor Hugo-
Something was wrong with Hugo.
Leaving her journal behind (she would deal with all of that later), Rose ran to her brother's bungalow, a box of cookies in hand. He had said he'd cleaned his room. It was serious. And after the last time they'd spoken, the row they'd had, that Hugo would tell her he needed her?
"Hugo, it's Rose. Open the door," she said, before knocking gently on the wood.
