Regulus had always found that he slept better when there were other people in the room. It was why he had crawled into Sirius' bed when he was younger; it was certainly why he had found that, as he entered school, he slept much better. That same reassurance seemed to have returned now that he was sharing a room with Remus and Scorpius. Perhaps that was a little odd, considering how little he knew of each, but he was glad to have some semblance of normalcy returned between him and Remus. He had truly regretted leaving things sour between them for so long when Remus had been kind to him. Still, he thought that things would be a little better now.
In any case, it wasn't exactly odd for him to sleep in a little; he so rarely got very good sleep, although the nightmares had abated slightly as of late, which was a relief. The only downside to being in the same room as other people was the vulnerability it presented. It allowed other people to know that he suffered from bad nightmares frequently.
Nightmares or not, he wasn't used to waking up with someone else in his bed. There were only a handful of times he could actually recall waking up next to someone. He jerked awake a little sharply when he felt the smooth press of someone's hand against his spine. His entire body went rigid and he gasped in an audible breath. His mind raced for a moment, his body filtering through the shock; once he was fully awake and thinking properly, it only took him a few seconds to recognize the voice that was whispering in his ear. It was all too familiar and belonged to the only person he knew who would pull such a thing.
"Don't," Regulus managed to say; his voice was thick with sleep. He tried halfheartedly to twist away from James. All he could think about was how exposed they were. He didn't even know if anybody else was in the room, but he wouldn't exactly put such a thing beyond James.
