Dean was walking quickly. Ever since their previous swim at the lagoon, he had been eager to see Ginny again. He couldn't get her out of his mind and it made that made him feel awful. Sick to his stomach. She was married and he was engaged. But on the island, it was as if their past lives and their future was up in the air. People who should be dead were there, after all. And Dean didn't want to hold back his desires only to regret them again.
Finding Ginny's note a few days before, it was at least a good sign that she had been feeling similarly. Having received a new paintbrush set, Dean wanted nothing more but to paint her. With her fiery hair and stunning eyes and smile, she had always been a muse. Excited, he had decided to open a piece of luggage, hoping to find some of his paints or perhaps a canvas and easel. Though it was empty, Dean immediately felt just as bare as the baggage in his chest and the pit of his stomach. He was missing something in his life, and he knew that that something would be waiting for him by the lagoon on Friday afternoon.
Setting up a canvas against a large rock and laying out the brushes from Ginny and the paints he had purchased at the store, he waited for her to arrive.
