Who: James Potter and Remus Lupin Where: Remus's place When: Morning after the full moon What: Baggage handling (oh, the puns) Rating/Status: Complete/lowish
As far as James was concerned, most of the time, if someone was a bit pent up about something, it was their own business. A man was entitled to a bit of privacy, to the right to sort himself out. But Remus getting bent out of shape over whatever git Sirius happened to have slept with once or twice? That needed to be addressed a bit.
And maybe it was just baggage. James could get that. And maybe it was natural, if Remus was craving a connection with someone-- they'd all been like family. Well, not so much that it was weird. And it wasn't weird, for that reason, because James was the only one who ever got much insistent about fraternity. Even if, last he knew, Remus and Sirius had been living together. So maybe in Remus's head, it was all a matter of proximity. James didn't really have the time to stumble over the fact that Remus's reach extended to another bloke. Hell, it had just been the seventies. And besides: David Bowie. Enough said.
It really wasn't tactical, deciding to drop in on Remus the morning after the full moon. It was just that he was reasonably sure that Remus would be where James expected him to be. Knocking on the door, he called out, "Remus? You alive in there?" just in case Remus had it in his head to ignore the door.
