It shouldn't have come as a shock when Adrian grabbed her, but it did. She pushed back against his arm, but Ange knew it wouldn't do much. Her strength was in her arms, and her arm strength would never rival that of a strong man's. It was in their anatomy; women were supposed to nurture and care, while the men protected. Damn evolution to hell. Grinding her teeth, Angelina rose her chin to look Adrian in the eye. Well if she wasn't about to get away, she certainly wouldn't be cowardly about it. "Sorry, I forgot. You don't have a heart so anything that would have been made by that organ is made by your penis. In my case, my heart makes all the decisions on lust. That means sex, in case you're confused."
Lifting her arms, Angelina placed her hands on Adrian's upper arms. It wasn't a nice gesture by any means, and she instantly dug her nails into his skin. If he was going to manhandle her waist, she wasn't about to let him go unmarked or unharmed. She almost laughed at how obvious it was Adrian wanted nothing to do with the word relationship. "Have you ever read a dictionary? Relationship merely means we interact, not that we're best buds or engaged to be married. I had a relationship with my mother, but that doesn't mean I cared when she died." Her words were cold, but held more emotion than she would have liked.
The expression on his face was almost missed by Angelina. Almost. It had been the tone of his voice that caused her to narrow her eyes and stare at him. It was enough to make her relax, stop putting pressure on his hand, and even enough to lighten her grip on his arms. With a wicked smile, she tiled her head. "Never said it was making love that made me feel guilty, did I?" Angelina purposely used the same words Adrian had to annoy Oliver. She had visibly calmed since exploding on him earlier, which meant her language was cleaning up. "And I have a feeling you'd be a little upset if that was the case."
Failing to hold back a smile, Angelina looked down at the lack-thereof of a gap between them. Damn him for being hot, and damn her for not caring they were so close.
