Remus smiled at her recollection of the evening, much as though he remembered it himself. He didn't of course, but he could imagine it well enough. It sounded like something he would do, pretending to like something to make a pretty woman happy. Especially on a first date.
"You make it sound like you asked me," he stated, more disappointed in himself than surprised that he would leave her with the burden. Of course he knew why he had done it, even though he hadn't done it yet - why he would do it. Remus had never been much of a man for dating, leaving that to James and Sirius. He had had a few girlfriends during the holidays - very short relationships that neither walked away from particularly improved except for knowing that the other had not been their type, whatever their type was. It was unfortunate, but Remus had to admit, he was something of a poor dater. Not to mention his natural reticence towards women in general and you had the perfect cocktail for putting too much pressure on the female companion.
"Did I ask you for the second date, then? I can't imagine you came back for more after that rejection." They had arrived at the next bungalow, and Remus quickly jotted down the names.
