Helena stood, blinking in disbelief as Anton de Bartholin walked away from her. There were no words that could possibly have come it her after the accusations he had thrown at her. Loudly, no less. Surely someone, if not everyone nearby would have heard. They had to of, his words were reverberating around in her head! It was like he had screamed those horrible words at her. And what made it worse was that he was correct in his assumptions! She was a whore, she had slept with Fred with no real ties to him. She didn't deserve the Ravenclaw name as she had just shamed her family with her actions.
Backing against the wall of the building behind her, Helena didn't care much who saw her lose her composure in the middle of the street. Her life was a show for them all anyway, wasn't it? Here and there, most people took more interest in her then they would have if she was anyone else. But she wasn't anyone else. She was Helena Ravenclaw and she was a whore.
It felt like he had just knocked the breath out of her, she couldn't catch it as her knees gave out from under her and she slid down the wall, tears spilling from her eyes. Anton was right, everything he said was correct! She couldn't move, she just stayed against the wall behind her, letting those thoughts take over, and her emotions get the best of her, despite what propriety said. Helena didn't hear the passing footsteps of the people who lived on the Island with her, and she didn't hear as one set of footsteps came closer to her, rather then avoiding.
