Angelina took a step back from Helena, only to make sure she didn't get hit by her failing hands. She figured Helena wouldn't want to sit, as she was obviously distressed. Ange listened, not really sure how to reply. She tried to think what she would tell Roxanne in the same situation, but came up blank. Besides, Angelina wasn't Helena's mother. She was her friend, which meant she should be able to come up with someone more comforting than a mother's response.
For a moment, Ange just stood and watched Helena pace. She wouldn't move too far, but she would give Helena all the space she wanted. "That's understandable," Angelina said in the same soft tone. "You were upset. The storm I think did strange things to everyone. Which isn't an excuse, but it'll help explain why you may have acted a bit more... rash than usual." Angelina didn't want to explain why she would know how Helena was feeling, and prayed Helena wouldn't ask for details.
"There's a few directions you can go from this. You two can talk about it, and decided to officially date. Exclusively, and all that. Which I'm sure you're doing anyways. I know in your time couples didn't sleep together until after they were married. But in Fred's time, it's a lot more casual. And who knows, maybe you might end up engaged. If, which is a pretty big if, you somehow got pregnant, we can deal with that. Should you and Fred decide you love each other, you can get married. And if not, well you have me and a whole support network. I know it's a shock, but you can't deny it happened. And dwelling on it is only going to make things worse - you just have to move forwards." Angelina figured it wasn't what Helena wanted to hear, but it was the truth. And Ange didn't want to lie.
