Draco didn't notice Tom's gaze lingering on his arm and the Mark there, too busy not vomiting on the man's shoes, too busy not turning tail and running away, too busy not shoving something sharp in the man's right eye, all things he desperately wanted to do in the moment. This man, this madman who had almost destroyed the world, a word that Draco love just as it was, Muggles and all, Muggleborns and all, a man who thrived on doling out pain and death and who was so terrified at the concept of his own death that he had taken others' lives in order to secure his own. He was a monster. A monster who had acquired power through unspeakable means and though Draco did respect power, thrive to achieve it for himself, this was not someone to respect. This man was the reason Draco often stared at the ceiling through the night, unable to close his eyes for fear that some day, he might wake up and be exactly like him.
Voldemort. The Dark Lord. The most evil, vile man to ever walk the earth and Draco had just shaken his hand, a professional expression on his face, no trace of the revulsion or the hatred he felt towards this man who had terrorized him and his family for ages. This man who felt himself so far above everyone else that-
"Nothing at all has been done, I take it?" he said, more to himself than to Tom.
This man who felt himself so far above everyone else that he hadn't lifted a finger to try to clean this place up!
Draco calmly walked over to the area covered in debris from the wall and tables that had collapsed, during the storm and began the process of cleaning it all up.
"It's times like these that I miss magic the most," he admitted, conversationally, hoping that the sound of his calm voice might distract from the fact that he hated this man more than he had ever hated anyone - including Potter and Weasley and every Mudbl- Everyone he had ever hated. He despised him. But he also had experience despising him and wishing for his death without showing any trace of those facts. "Banishing the lot would take far less time."
