While Tom wasn't surprised that Draco was from after his "demise," as he so called it, he was pleased to note that Draco's tone took on a more serious edge. It wasn't quite as disrespectful as before, which Tom found quite intriguing. He supposed that it had to all be tied up in whatever had happened to Draco in the war; he figured that there had to be some reason that Draco had been allowed to join so young. He couldn't imagine that it was common for a teenager to be involved.
"Why did you join?" Tom asked finally. He wanted a personal slant on the history, but at the same time, he did know it. There were textbooks he could look into and plenty of people that were willing to disperse their versions of the war. He would get that from Draco as he needed it - right now, he wanted to understand the complexities, the inner workings of the boy in front of him.
