Normally, Angelina would be concerned at the sheer amount of sand creeping all over her body. In her hair, down her bag, in between her toes, and Merlin knows where else. It would take her hours, if not days, to find and remove every spec. But Angelina wasn't terribly concerned about it right now. With enough showers the sand would wash away, but with enough swims, it would come right back. Angelina had never been a high maintenance woman when it came to make-up and looking perfect, and for that she was glad. It would be impossible to live here if she was. The water was too warm, and escapades on the beach were just far too tempting. Men without their shirts and fantastic bodies. Like Adrian's. For a moment, Angelina watched as a droplet of sweat rolled down his chest.
His words brought Ange back. Turning, Angelina propped her head on her hand, her elbow digging into the sand. With a slight frown, Angelina tried to work out what he was saying. A failure? He couldn't really think that. Not with... but when was he from? Ange strained to remember, but came up blank. "Hey," she said gently, her free hand coming to rest on his chest. His fit and sweaty because of her chest. Blinking, Angelina struggled to remember what she had been about to say. Tearing her eyes away from where her hand was resting, it was Angelina's turn to study his profile.
"A failure?" she repeated, incredulously. "You're serious? Bloody hell, Adrian. When are you from? I'd never want to be your Santa Clause, but you're horribly misinformed. You're at least playing for the Falcons when you're from, right? I donno how long ago now, but you've been starting for what feels like ever. Fuck I don't remember the Falcons ever being so good as you've been this year. Unless it's your definition of failure that's wrong, which I wouldn't be too surprised at. But in my book, starting for a team that's looking pretty good is damn far from being a failure." Angelina couldn't believe what she was saying, or feeling. Why the hell did she care if he was upset, and why the hell was she trying to comfort him?
