Who: Cassiopeia, Pollux and eventually Gellert When: Thursday, after this Where: Pollux's, then around What: Siblings getting together, then looking for Gellert about curtains Rating: G? Status: In progress
If Cassiopeia were being honest, the luncheon with her brother and his grandchildren had not gone exceptionally well. Not only was she feeling uncomfortable because of her luggage, but many things were brought to light that she hadn't expected. Like those in future generations of her family killing other people, and following a man that was similar to Gellert Grindelwald in beliefs. That she was now having to seek out the same man (Grindelwald, not whoever Voldemort was) for curtains seemed terribly strange to her. It didn't matter that he was supposed to be younger, possibly not the same man that she remembered from five years before. What mattered was that he was the same man, regardless of age, and even if he didn't currently support those things he would later in life, he someday would do just that.
Even if Pollux had not offered to accompany her, Cassiopeia likely would have asked him in the end. In this strange place, she wasn't very comfortable doing much of anything. There were two men she didn't know sleeping under the same roof as her, one on the couch (because, as it turned out, he did seem to be a perfect gentleman, if a bit crazy) and the other in a bed in the same room as her. Her job was selling Muggle things, which she knew nothing about. The weather was warmer than she was used to, and some of the women ran around wearing far fewer clothes than she felt was necessary. That was only a handful of the complaints she had. It wasn't as if she could ask Pollux to hold her hand throughout the entire ordeal in order to make her feel better. She was a woman grown, yet there was something about going to meet a man like Grindelwald to discuss dresses and curtains that just made her feel too uncomfortable to go about it alone.
So, she'd dressed, felt a bit nervous, and then headed for Pollux's. It wasn't a very long walk, but Cassiopeia had enough time to think about her luggage, and the feelings it had brought on. Ariana had told her that it helped to talk about it, but she wasn't sure she was ready to do that. It wasn't as if she could just say, 'Oh, and by the way Pollux, I happen to be a lesbian' without any warning. Telling him would be embarrassing, something she just wasn't sure she wanted to face yet. But then she had to. Had to not just because Ariana had told her she did - because it was eating away at her inside. Constantly she felt slightly sick with worry that she was going to lose her family. The entire thing was making her miserable, and she wasn't sure she could take it much longer. Still, she wasn't sure that today was the right day.
When she arrived, she knocked on the door, this time mindful of her manners. The feelings from the luggage had been too overwhelming the last time she'd been here, enough that she'd completely forgot all her manners. It was something she wasn't keen on repeating. In fact, she planned to be the absolute picture of manners, grace and propriety, with her brother and with Grindelwald when they met him. It didn't matter if she was slightly scared of him. She was a Black, and as such, she would act like one. That meant smiling even if you didn't want to, and exchanging pleasantries even if you want to slap the person. Not that she would want to slap Grindelwald, just that she had been taught how to hide it if she did. And she certainly planned to hide the apprehension she felt about meeting him, hopefully enough that even her brother wouldn't be able to tell.
