Who: Luna & Lily Luna!
What: Luna opens a piece of baggage
Where: Their bungalow
When: Early evening
Rating/Status: Low / Complete!
Though being a carpenter was the last thing Luna Lovegood would sign up for, she was enjoying work. Perhaps that was because she had an uncanny ability to frustrate Draco Malfoy, or it may have been because she truly did not understand the point. Why on earth would people want buildings out of wood? Hadn't they heard of the word 'fire' or 'forest fires'? Wood burns. Brick doesn't, clay doesn't, and so many other materials don't. Luna enjoyed most of her days thinking of things more ridiculous to build houses out of. She'd come up with many, her favourite being giant leaves. Luna had decided she would love to live in a house of leaves.
Arriving at home in a good mood, Luna was slightly shocked to find the house empty. Or at least, the bedroom empty. Sitting at the foot of her bed, Luna stared at her baggage. She'd heard the rumours about it, the feelings they could evoke, and had decided to leave it until a later date. Without realizing she'd picked it up, Luna looked down at the key she was twirling in her hand. Could it really be so bad? Now starting at the key, Luna thought about what could possibly be in the trunk. She'd also heard they would spring open if left too long. They were really quite pushy for luggage! With a sigh, Luna decided to go for it. Better now when she was happy, than later when she was upset.
At once, Luna realized this was a mistake. All of a sudden she could only think of Ginny and Harry. Their love, their bond, and everything that had drawn them together. In Luna's eyes, they were the perfect couple. They'd been through a war together, a roller coaster at best. With thoughts of Harry and Ginny came the desire. The desire to have that love. Not just any love, but their love. Luna was jealous and inspired at the same time. It wasn't long before she started thinking of Rolf. She wasn't Ginny and he wasn't Harry. Would their marriage last? Deep down, Luna knew it was a stupid question - of course it would last - but this baggage had other ideas. Luna stood and went to her closet and pulled out the simple white dress she'd found. The dress that she intended to wear on her wedding day. A day that was not Ginny's, a day where Luna would be entering into a different world. A world without a guide, without Harry, without the same love.
Holding her dress in front of her, Luna simply stared. Thinking, feeling guilt and worry, and becoming incredibly unsure of herself. What was this? She'd never been unsure in her life. Had it been a mistake, opening herself up? Was she going to make a good wife? Would she keep Rolf happy the way Ginny kept Harry happy? She couldn't, she didn't understand people the way Ginny did. She was going to disappoint Rolf, she couldn't be the woman he wanted. She couldn't be, because she wasn't Ginny.
