*Feel free to start sub-threads. I'll try to get Pollux to respond to everyone at some point!
At just before four in the afternoon, Pollux had put on one pot and one kettle of water to boil. He had always heard the expression 'burning water' which he didn't really was possible, but Pollux had decided to give it two go's. That way, if one burnt, he would still have a back up. He also wasn't entirely sure how long water took to boil, but he also knew not to watch it. For some odd reason or another, if you watched water boil it took longer. Again, Pollux didn't understand these wives tales, but he wasn't about to question them. Pollux hadn't actually ever made tea, either. He had watched, plenty of times, but he was served tea. Either the elf or Irma, or even his mother, had always made tea. Not that any of them really minded, it was just something that was done.
Frowning at the kitchen, Pollux was uneasy. If he wasn't meant to watch the water, how was he to know if it burnt? He didn't really want to burn down the kitchen on his first try - so far Pollux had been eating bagels, fruit, and anything else that didn't require heat or much effort. He'd never realized just how little he actually know about living. For years, Pollux had gone to work and come home to a meal waiting. At school he'd always been fed. It was just the way he'd been raised.
With a sigh, Pollux decided to check the biscuits. He'd bought them at the store, because heaven forbid he try to bake them. Pollux had also bought some jam and butter, not really sure what his grandchildren might like on, if anything, their biscuits. He took the tray into the dining room as a way to distract himself from the water. Pollux was breathing through his nose a little faster and a little more than usual, but how else would he smell smoke? It was a knock at the door that sent a wave of relief through Pollux. Help! Help was here!
