Who: Pansy and Amelie When: Sunday Afternoon Where: Grocery Store What: Crossing Paths Rating: Low
Holding her basket on the crook of her elbow, Pansy walked up and down the aisles, carefully planning out her meals for the week. She had become quite skilled at budgeting her income and making it stretch as far as possible. Pansy chewed on her lip as she shopped, calculating the totals in her mind as she put different meals together.
While she was grateful for the raise in salary, Pansy still lived frugally. She couldn't imagine being the careless and frivolous girl she was so many years ago. The idea of spending money on clothing or shoes was now ridiculous.
Turning a corner, Pansy came to a dead stop and sucked in a quiet breath. Amelie. Pansy didn't know if she should walk right pass her daughter and pretend it didn't matter or if she was supposed to approach her. It was clear to Pansy that Amelie wanted nothing to do with her and Pansy was far too proud to try for a third time.
Still, she had missed her daughter so incredibly much. Pansy's entire life had been Amelie for the last four years. She lived and breathed just to give Amelie a good life. And now her daughter wanted nothing to do with her. Perhaps it was karma. Pansy hadn't been a good person for a very long time. Surely there was some grand repayment from the universe.
