Helena gave him a little smile, glad that he was not upset with her. That would have just ruined the whole evening, considering she didn't really know anyone else who was at the party as of yet. And she still wasn't sure how she felt about the party, as it was nothing like what she was used to. Would there be dancing and frivolity like at the balls they sometimes went to in her time? Or would it just remain as it was now, milling about, talking and drinking?
Her smile slipped a little when Fred withdrew his hands. "I will have no more then two then, for they are really quite delicious." Helena took another drink to prove her point.
"They are terribly uncomfortable and ride up in all the wrong places. I do not understand how men can where them all the time. Or the females of your time." She shrugged her shoulders. "But, they cover everything they need to cover, even if I do feel a little exposed." There wasn't enough fabric draping her body for Helena to be really comfortable. It was much hotter on the Island though, too much fabric, such as what she wore around him, would probably lead her into the swooning couches.
