Vising strange places was nothing new to Rolf. He was very much use to different lands and people. Few things surprised him after over a decade of travel, but even he had to admit that this island was odd. Thankfully Luna was here though. He hated to think of her being alone in a new place. She was so trusting of others and it always worried Rolf that she might get hurt.
His luggage had followed him to a random house. A key was sitting on his pillow, but Rolf couldn't bring himself to unpack just yet. Not until Luna was here and he could see she was safe.
Rolf shoved his hands into the pockets of his sleep pants and walked to his porch to wait for his fiancée. She would love this place. Then again, Luna loved all places.
Luna had not been at all shocked when she arrived in this strange place. It had taken a bit of reading, but it seemed as though people of all years, ages, and even the dead were here. Not only was it exciting, but it was fascinating! Luna had already started taking notes on signs of moon frogs, because there was no doubt in her mind it was anything but. Magic alone didn't have this sort of power, but Luna hadn't thought moon frogs did alone either. They had to be working in cahoots with something or someone else. Perhaps magic had evolved in the future and this sort of thing was possible. It was almost too much for her to take in.
Upon seeing Rolf's handwriting, Luna felt comforted. She'd never found support in anyone they way she found it in Rolf. Even rereading a letter from him managed to calm her down in the most stressful situations. Luna often took a letter or two from him when she went travelling without him, and it greatly helped. Without worry, Luna tossed her journal on the bed, didn't lock the door, and didn't check her appearance when she left. All in all, Luna was a simple girl entertained by simple things.
The walk to #13 was short, and Luna smiled when she saw his name on the door. How clever! "Rolf?" she called as she knocked. Luna gave it a second before she walked in out of etiquette, not because she thought someone might be doing something inappropriate on the other side.
An enormous weight had been lifted from his shoulders the moment Rolf heard Luna's voice. He walked down the remaining steps quickly and hurried to meet her in the living room. Gathering her up into his arms, Rolf smiled softly and kissed her messy blonde hair.
Luna was the center of his world and Rolf always felt calmer when she was close. He didn't say anything at all and just held her close for a long moment, his hands running up and down her back.
Luna smile when Rolf took her in his arms. There was something eerily comforting about being tangled up in someone else's arms. Before Rolf, it was a sensation Luna hadn't really encountered. Of course, after Rolf Luna whole heartedly believed he was the only one in the entire world who could comfort her in such away. It was simply the way their pheromones interacted with each other, and quite possibly the way other things interacted that she hadn't yet proved. Not that it mattered with Rolf, he tended to go along with Luna's wild beliefs.
Luna's arms were wrapped tightly around her finance, and her head was nuzzled into his chest. The silence was fine with Luna, she knew Rolf often preferred it to talking. It served them well, because Luna talked more than any normal human being should. Eventually, She loosened her arms and pulled slightly back, enough so that she could look up at Rolf. "I'm glad you're here," she said with a smile. "Isn't it fascinating here?"
Rolf nodded, his hand still running up and down her back. He couldn't deny the wonder of the island. People who were very dead in his time were communicating with him. It was fascinating. And by sheer luck, two of his friends were here as well.
Rolf kissed Luna's head again. "Perhaps we should explore more in the morning. It's quite late."
Luna giggled when Rolf suggested bed. "I couldn't sleep if I wanted to! There's too much to explore and discover. Just think, there could be crumple-horned snorkacks outside! Oh Rolf, if we came across one of those I should die a very happy woman. Do you think there's some here? I know it's not the typical climate of Sweden, but maybe they have migrated. I've never seen an island such as this. If not, I'm sure there are all sorts of magnificent creatures around." Luna's voice was full of wonder and excitement. She was a girl who rarely got a full night's sleep because her mind was racing and her thoughts were wild. Tonight Luna completely expected to be up until dawn, and that didn't bother her. She often watched Rolf as he slept, and every once in a while she would paint a picture of him like that. "I'll bet we could find some moon frogs tonight, too. They are much easier to spot in the darkness."
It had really been worth a try. Rolf knew it was unlikely that Luna would want to wait until the sun was hanging in the sky before exploring. And while he never minded exploring new places, Rolf generally preferred to have some idea as to where he was or what might be out there. If Luna wasn't stopped she would walk into a pit of vipers and try to convince them all it was better to be happy than angry. It was one of the things he loved most about her.
Moving to take her hand, Rolf smiled and nodded. "All right," he said slowly. "Let's take a look around then." His fingers were firmly locked with hers and he had no intention of letting her hand out of his. Rolf would follow Luna anywhere, but he wasn't about to let her walk off into the dark unknown alone. He had spent more time than he could count seeking out her creatures and following her flights of fancy. It was hardly a bad way to spend one's life. In fact, Rolf was extremely happy to be by her side as much as possible.
Luna gripped Rolf's hand as tightly as he gripped his. She began walking with a bright smile on her face, forgetting her shoes like she normally did. Luna had spent so long without shoes that she hardly noticed it anymore. With a chuckle, Luna stopped in the foyer, slipping on her shoes. Nowadays she always had both feet, but it was always more comfortable without them. Rolf wasn't a huge fan of her wandering around shoe less though, so Luna tried her best to remember them. Of course, Luna's mind was often occupied with much more important things than shoes, so Rolf had to remind her every now and then.
Once they got outside, Luna took a deep breath. Everything smelt so fresh and it heightened her senses. Before tramping off in the unknown, Luna took a slow survery of her surroundings. Moon frogs would want to be near water, and she suspect they'd be easier to find than crumple-horned snorkacks. To find those magnificent creatures she'd need to do a lot more research and surveying in the daytime. Luna tugged lightly on Rolf's hand, and pointed towards the beach. "Let's head there and look for moon frogs. I've yet to see one in real life!"
He followed along quietly as he always did. Rolf normally allowed Luna to pull him in any direction she wanted unless he could tell it was going to be a bit too dangerous. But beaches were (hopefully) safe and he loved watching her in the night sky. Luna looked best in the moonlight and it had been in moonlight where he first saw her. From the very first moment he saw her standing next to his father bathed in moonlight, Rolf had been a fool for Luna Lovegood. And he never passed up the opportunity to see her in a similar setting.
Rolf wanted so badly for her to find one of her creatures. He knew, of course, that more often than not she was chasing mythical creatures that never had existed, but he loved that she kept the hope alive. He squeezed her hand softly as they made their way towards the beach. His eyes were fixed on the way the silver light played with her hair and how her skin seemed to shine rather than keeping his eyes open for any moon frogs.
"I love you," he said quietly as their feet hit the sand. While he didn't talk as often as Luna did, Rolf certainly reminded her of how he felt as often as possible.
Luna blushed and smiled when Rolf professed his love. He did it often, but her reaction was always the same. It was flattering he said such things so often, and Luna hoped it would never change. Bringing their pace to a halt, Luna leaned up and kissed his cheek. "I love you too, darling." And then she smiled wildly and tugged on his hand before dropping it. "Come! The sand is so soft, dance with me!" Luna let her shoes slip off at the edge of the beach, wanting to feel the sand underneath her feet. Since graduating Hogwarts and travelling, Luna had come to learn sand was one of her most favourite things. It was squishy, rough, and soft all at the same time. It was a perfect texture, and Luna often wished the entire world was made of sand.
The way Luna danced was still peculiar. Without waiting for Rolf, Luna threw her hands in the air and jumped and spun in circles. She needn't music or light to dance, and she certainly didn't need a partner. While dancing, Luna often forgot what it was she'd been meaning to do. Searching for moon frogs completely slipped from her mind, and Luna began humming her own tune. She giggled in enjoyment, and slowly to see if Rolf was about to join her. Bowing towards him, Luna tilted her head and a new idea sprung to her mind. "We should swim! It's been ages since I was in the ocean. I doubt there are any jellyrats around here, jellyfish maybe - but we'll be able to see them in the moonlight."
Rolf chose to linger rather than join Luna. He enjoyed watching her dance to the music in her heart. He stood there, watching and smiling as she twirled in the moonlight. It really was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. He could have stood there all night watching her and never have gotten bored.
When she suggested swimming, however, Rolf took off towards the water eagerly. He dropped his pants and shed his shirt on the beach and dove right into the surf happily and really quite nude. It was the only way anyone should ever swim. Waiting for Luna to join him, Rolf treaded water lazily, a huge smile on his face.
Being naked was actually one of Luna's favourite things. It was so freeing and delicate and wild all at the same time. She loved the way air felt on her skin, and she loved the way water felt on her most private parts even more. She raced after Rolf, dropping her clothes in step. Luna had always been a bit of a peculiar girl, and once in a while she would wake up and decide to spend the entire day without clothes. For such a treat to be rewarding, Luna knew clothes had to be an everyday thing. Being naked couldn't be considered free if she never had clothes to trap her in. Plus, Luna enjoyed all the clothes and accessories she had made over the day, and wearing them helped her show them off. And there was also the teeny fact most people didn't look nicely upon people wandering about naked.
Luna ran into the water, giggling and splashing. The water was quite warm, and Luna made her way over to Rolf. Pushing her arms down and her body up, she gave him a quick peck and then flipped onto her back. "Did you ever think we'd get kidnapped somewhere so beautiful? I say, I could move here in a heartbeat."
And Rolf never minded seeing Luna naked. If he was more vocal bloke, Rolf would have demanded Luna stay naked all the time. But he wasn't an aggressive or vocal person so instead he looked at her as much when he could.
The kiss wasn't enough, but Rolf didn't say anything. He swam close to her, staring at the way her breasts stayed above the water. Gods he was glad it was dark. "What makes you think we've been kidnapped?"
Luna took no notice to Rolf's gaze, she was looking elsewhere. At the waves, the horizon, the moon, and the stars. "Well I suppose we may not have been. But I didn't know we were making this trip, did you? I thought that meant being kidnapped. Although, we aren't children. So maybe someone else has simply planned this adventure for us, and will reveal themselves later." Luna smiled at the thought, thinking about how marvelous it would have been to plan or even construct a location like this.
A strange noise in the distance stole Luna's attention. She frowned slightly and made a 'hmm' noise. Before speaking she glanced back up at the moon and scrunched her nose up. "We won't be seeing an moon frogs tonight. They've all gone to bed now. We can go home whenever you'd like, dear."
"Let's swim a little longer," Rolf said quietly and took her hand, floating next to Luna. "Then we'll go home."
Luna smiled and gripped his hand tighter. "I do love being in the water," she whispered. Her eyes continued to wander, between Rolf and the ocean. She was fantastically content right now, and had no intentions of leaving.
