It was clear that dinner hadn't been what he'd come over for, but Rose moved to the kitchen anyway. She would see what they had and if there was anything worth preparing, she would make it.
She had gotten as far opening the refrigerator door when he asked about the book. "Trying to. It's the driest piece of fiction I've ever tried reading. I don't even see the point, it's as though the author has every intention of wasting as many words as possible without ever saying anything." Don't get her started on that book. Rose pulled the makings of a healthy sandwich (vegetables included) out of the refrigerator. "And if you open it... I think a sentence can last half a page with that man, and he doesn't use any punctuation marks. No periods, no commas, no capital letters, nothing. It's supposed to be this man's diary, but nothing ever happens in his life. I can't even find value in trying to figure out what it's supposed to be a study of, it's just mind-numbingly boring."
