Who: Regulus and Bella Where: Bella's Bungalow When: Sunday night What: Regulus has a confession to make Status/Rating: Incomplete, probably low
Regulus was terrified of disappointing Bella. That was the simple truth of the matter. His mother's disapproval was biting and sharp, but Regulus cared more about disappointing Bellatrix. He had always been close to her, but after Sirius had left - She had become so much more to him. He had tried at every turn to meet the standards that she had set; she had always seemed so knowledgeable and sophisticated.
It had destroyed him when he had to lie to her. He had always thought that she would figure it out. Lying had gotten easier the longer he did, but he had always thought that Bella would piece together his plan before he had managed to carry it out. But if she had ever had any suspicions, he never knew. He had always been so keenly aware that she probably wouldn't accept what he was doing. There was no one that was more loyal to the Dark Lord than his cousin - which hurt. He hated seeing the way that she preened over the maniac, because he had become absolutely convinced that the Dark Lord was beneath their family. The Dark Lord was killing their family. He didn't think that Bella would see it that way. It was the only argument he had though. He had only wanted to protect their family. He was only doing what he had been taught to do.
He knew that she would eventually find out. The news of his death was gradually seeping out. And she knew something about it now. All he could do was try and talk to her first. He wanted to make her understand. He didn't know what he was going to do if she rejected him entirely. A quiet voice in the back of his mind reminded that this was why it had been easier to die than to try and survive stealing the Horcrux.
It didn't take him long at all to arrive at her bungalow. He knocked quietly. His heart was practically in his throat. He was terrified. He feared her reaction beyond almost anything else.
