Finding Sirius had proved a bit more challenging than expected. The trouble was, when it came to tracking down Sirius, without magic, one had to look everywhere. In the pub, behind the pub, on the beach, any place with shiny lights, in any tree with low branches. James hadn't even been out for very long when he found himself wandering back toward his own bungalow. He'd forsaken shoes entirely since his arrival. There was simply no point to them, and he much preferred being barefoot. For some reason, it held a bit at bay the persist impulse to run that thrummed just beneath his pulse. The Top Secret Project to become animagi had been, of course, for Remus, but the monthly task of it all had come to be a sort of catharsis for all of them. He missed it. Part of him felt like he needed it. Especially as he watched his bare feet kicking up a bit of sand as he reached his own steps.
And then, there was Sirius- slumped over, either asleep or unconscious, leaning against the side of the steps. Forgetting the rest, James grinned a bit. Regardless of what he might say elsewhere, to people who didn't really know him, James knew that the whole place was a bit much-- that the revelations that came along with it were even more than a bit much. But that was personal stuff. Private stuff. Certainly not for beach-wide broadcasts. Besides, someone had to keep up a positive attitude.
Just like somebody had to haul Sirius up and drag him inside, and as ever, James was glad it was him. He settled Sirius down on the couch, propped over on his side, before padding back to the bedroom. True to his expectations, he awoke before Sirius. Whenever James went to bed with the sense that he had Something To Do in the morning, it was practically impossible for him to sleep very late at all. So he dragged on some clothes and ambled around the kitchen for a bit. Maybe save breakfast for later, as it was at least a little possible that Sirius wouldn't be the least bit interested in eating anything for a few more hours. And they did have Something To Do. This whole mess with Sirius and Remus had been going on for far too long. Since before they'd turned up here, even, and to James, it just seemed like more and more of the same.
And it was getting really, really old.
